I feel like summer just ended, when in reality we are well into fall. This year is speeding by. The kids are growing and thriving and have hit several milestones.
EVANDER
First Day of Preschool
It is fascinating the things that go on at his school, if he is to be believed. He has told me about the school filling with water when they were searching for seahorses, and the water getting so overwhelming that the doors were opened and everyone washed away. So nothing was taught that day. Another day nothing was taught because there was a race, held by the preschoolers but attended by all the students with Lightning McQueen and Francesco Bernouli as the stars. That was to be a two day race, so again...no learning. In fact, he has told me on several occasions when I ask him what he learned, "Mom, it's not a learning school."
CALEB
First Pair of Glasses
It took a long time of holding his hands down and holding him on my lap before he would even keep the glasses on. In fact, he'd just squint his eyes so he couldn't see at all. When he finally gave in and opened his eyes, it seemed that he was very intrigued by his new vision. We still struggle to keep them on him. Luckily this pair is pretty much unbreakable, even for Caleb who can break the binding on any book in under a minute.
JAYNE
First Birthday
Is she really only 1 year old? Jayne is all over the place and asserts her independence whenever she can. She doesn't want to be fed, she wants the spoon and she can feed herself...Thank you very much! And she is very good at letting me know if she wants me to keep rubbing her head or if she'd like me to keep my hands off. Also, at bedtime she will lie down in her crib, blow a kiss and say "Night night." Meaning: "I'm tired. Would you kindly leave and let me go to sleep now."
Her birthday was fun...beautiful weather, family, friends, and a cake she destroyed. Finally! The boys couldn't have cared less about their first birthday cakes. Jayne got her first purse which she carries around daily now. She's already more fashionable than her mom.
GAH!
